2017 RHP/CIF Logan Easley committed to Wichita State University earlier in the fall. I had the opportunity to discuss his recruiting process, how he got in front of the Shockers, and who has impacted him as a player. Below you find our complete interview.
PBR: Ultimately, why did you choose the Wichita State?
Easley: After a lot of consideration of the offers I had, I felt like WSU was the best fit for me. I really like the school, the coaches, and the facilities there.
PBR: Where did they first see you compete?
Easley: They saw me at the PBR Top Prospects Games in June @ Arvest, and they have seen me play in several tournaments with the Prospects, & I have attended camps at WSU in the past 2 years.
PBR: When did you take your first official or unofficial visit Wichita State?
Easley: I attended a camp there in August & they made me an offer then. My first unofficial visit was in November.
PBR: What role do the coaches expect you to play your first year on campus?
Easley: They have recruited me as a 2 way player & are expecting me to get some innings at MIF & on the mound my freshman year.
PBR: What other schools were you considering?
Easley: UALR, UCA, A State, Arkansas, Ole Miss, & Oklahoma
PBR: Who did you play for this summer? Talk about your experience playing for them?
Easley: Rawlings AR Prospects-Menard. Coach Menard is a great coach to play for. He challenged us with a very competitive schedule this summer & I feel like that exposure and the experience has helped me become a stronger player.
PBR: Who has had the biggest impact on you as a baseball player?
Easley: My family has always supported me and I have had the opportunity to play for some great coaches over the years, but my Dad is the one that has had the biggest impact. He has given so much of his time to work with me and encourage me.
PBR: What were your stats for your High School last spring?
Easley: BA .297, Led team with 19 RBI's & 11 dbls. 1 HR. 3-0 pitching 13 innings. Started 2B as a Freshman & sophomore. As a sophomore, awarded
Team Gold Glove & 7A West All Conference.
