The last few days we reviewed some of the top players in the 2019 class. I was able to talk with the No.1 player in the 2019 class about his recruiting process. RHP/OF Blake Adams committed to the University of Arkansas early in the summer. Below you will find a Q&A describing how Blake came to this decision.
PBR: Ultimately, why did you choose the School of your choice?
Blake Adams: Arkansas has always been my dream school, but I did wonder if they were going to take advantage of my family's love for the Hogs, but they did not. Coach Van Horn and his staff were very aggressive with my recruiting and their offer, so it just took 2 weeks for me to commit.
PBR: Where did they first see you compete?
Blake Adams: They had watched me work out on numerous occasions, but their first time to see me actually compete was at a V-Tool event in Fayetteville in the Fall of 2015.
PBR: When did you take your first official or unofficial visit school committed to?
Blake Adams: January 2016
PBR: What role do the coaches expect you to play your first year on campus?
Blake Adams: They told me they expect me to be a two-way player, pitching on the weekend, and playing the outfield the rest of the time. They said with my talent, I should be able to start as a freshmen.
PBR: What other schools were you considering?
Blake Adams: Mississippi State, TCU, and Vanderbilt
PBR: Who did you play for this summer? Talk about your experience playing for them?
Blake Adams: EM Majors. EM was my team for 3 years and I really enjoyed playing with them, and we had great success, and we had some great experiences. EM will no longer have a team, so next summer, I will play with the Sticks Baseball Academy
PBR: Have you ever attended a PBR Arkansas event? Talk about your experience playing in PBR event?
Blake Adams: Yes. I attended a showcase in the Fall of 2015 and the All-State Games this Fall. I always enjoy the PBR events and the talent from all over the State of Arkansas that the events bring. I believe PBR has really helped recruiting in our State.
PBR: Who has had the biggest impact on you as a baseball player?
Blake Adams: My Father. He coached me from T-Ball to 14 and has always been my personal coach.
PBR: What were your stats for your High School last spring?
Blake Adams: Regular Season (29 games)
Avg: .395
35 hits, 22 RBI, 9 2B, 1 3B, 2 HR, .452 OBP, .571 SLG
Pitching: 7 games, 10.2 innings, 0.66 ERA, 1-1, 1 SV, 18Ks
