Quick Hits: Week 1 Underclass Trials

Week 1 of the Underclass Trials is in the books and here are a few players that stood out. Our staff continues to filter through the information from the Trials and will have more insight in the days and weeks to follow.
2021 SS Wil French showed athletic actions at SS. he also posted an event best 6.90 60. At the plate he is a switch hitter with barrel awareness producing a line drive swing from both sides of the plate. Naturally right handed, the left handed swing is advanced and has gap to gap power.
2021 3B Christion Cleary, Nettleton High School, is a physical body at 5-10 170 with big shoulders and room to grow. The only player to hit the ball out of the ballpark, Cleary is a bat to watch as he continues to mature.
Jonesboro 2021 Sawyer Bentley showed advanced approach at the plate with pull side power. Average arm in the outfield also running a 7.18 60, Sawyer will be a solid corner outfielder with power as he matures, but the bat showed very well in BP.
2021 Tristan Wallace from Paragould is a quick twitch body with strength to the body. He ran a 6.95 showing athleticism both in the outfield and at the plate with surprising power for his 5-10 frame.
2021 Jake Henry Williams is a power body with a power bat standing 6-Foot-1 and 215-pounds, He is a physical frame that produces strength at contact and impressive 92 mph exit velocity.
2020 South Side Bee Branch OF/LHP Brody Smith showed well both offensively and on the mound. Brody has a simple swing with pull side power. He also showed a three pitch mix from the left side running his fastball up to 81 with arm side run.
2020 Jared Rhodes C from El Dorado HS showed a physical swing with pull side power along with arm strength behind the dish with carry. He also handled the pitchers well showing ability to receive and instincts to block.
2020 Jared Toler from Harmony Grove was a big left handed bat with feel for the barrel. He used the middle of the field showing power to both gaps. 3B that should continue to get better as he fills out his 6-Foot-1 frame.
2021 Rhett Jaggers C from Monticello showed a powerful left handed swing that he repeated. Tying the event with a 90 mph exit velo Jaggers strength plays. An offensive catcher he received and blocked the ball well.
2021 RHP Carson Harris of Lake Hamilton showed a repeated delivery with ASR on his downhill fastball. He maxed at 81 mph but there is projection to his frame with more velo to come. He also showed a slurvy breaking ball that at times showed solid break. An arm to watch as he continues to develop.
