PBR AR 2024 Rankings Update
May 8, 2023
As the spring continues to wrap up, we take a look at our updated 2024 class rankings. We dive deeper into a couple of players who see themselves in the Top 10 as well as some notes on the top 5 remaining uncommitted players that coaches at the next level should be looking out for. The 2024 class in the Natural State has already shown it's strength with 19 Division 1 commits and 10 of them going to the Power 5 level. There is still plenty of talent left to be scooped up by teams at the next level as we should continue to see more action in the coming months.

Lance Davis RHP / Valley View, AR / 2024Rankings StateRank: 6 / POS: 4
The projectable right-hander from Valley View checks in at number 6 on this updated list as he's racking up the strikeouts in a hurry this spring. Davis has a smooth operation on the mound with a clean arm action that has shown the ability to work the fastball into the lower 90's in the past and shows a feel for spinning a tight slider in the upper 70's. The Razorback's commit will continue to see jumps in velocity and stuff in the near future as he continues to gain experience and add strength to his frame.

Aden Velasquez SS / RHP / Cabot, AR / 2024Rankings StateRank: 7 / POS: 1
Velasquez has been on the radar as a projectable 2-way prospect that landed a commitment to UCA last summer after a strong performance representing team Arkansas at the Future Games. Velasquez has one of the higher ceilings in the class with his projectable 6-foot-3 and 180-pound frame that he uses to work the fastball in the upper 80's and shows nice spin on the up and down curveball. His biggest attribute is his ability to land all three pitches in the zone giving him some pitchability to go along with the projection on the mound. At the plate he swings with strong leverage and shows feel for working around the ball in the infield. Right now the frame is still plenty lean and shows a lot of room to continue to add strength and size.
|
Jackson Kircher RHP / OF / Little Rock Christian , AR / 2024Rankings StateRank: 10 / POS: 5
Kircher has seen his stock rise since this past summer as he shows steady growth both on the mound and at the plate. The recent OU commit has seen his fastball start to creep into the low 90's thanks to his strong leg drive on the mound and elite hand speed. He is able to generate strong spin on both a curveball and slider with slightly different shapes and shows the ability to pull the string in the zone on a solid changeup. The 6-foot-4 and 200-pound outfielder also shows elite tools as a position player with some serious strength at contact thanks to high level bat speed and has also shown the athleticism form the big frame running under a 6.9 60 in the past.

TOP UNCOMMITTED
Meyer Maddox OF / LHP / Jonesboro , AR / 2024Rankings StateRank: 13 / POS: 2
Maddox still remains on the board as our top uncommitted prospect in the 2024 class. The left-handed hitting outfielder has some of the best barrel control in the state and would fit nicely at the top of the order at the next level and should be one to keep an eye on in this summer.
|
Jaxson Ingle OF / LHP / Lonoke, AR / 2024Rankings StateRank: 14 / POS: 3
Ingle continues to impress when we get eyes on him getting it done on both sides of the ball for Lonoke. Ingle has a knack for missing barrels on the mound and shows the ability to pound the zone and work deep into games. Offensively, he stays well-balanced at the plate with some strength at contact and shows the ability to work the ball to all fields.
|
Paxton Flagg C / OF / Greenbrier , AR / 2024Rankings StateRank: 17 / POS: 3
Flagg checks in as the third highest ranked uncommitted prospect in the state and number 17 overall. The Greenbrier backstop had a strong showing this past summer showcasing some serious arm strength from the crouch and pop times as low as 1.94 on the circuit. Offensively, he uses a smooth/rhythmic approach with some strength at contact making him an excellent option to check in on as a defensive catcher with potential pop.
|
Gavin Kelley RHP / OF / Benton, AR / 2024Rankings StateRank: 19 / POS: 7
Gavin Kelley ranks as the number 19 overall prospect in the class and our fourth highest uncommitted prospect still on the board. The projectable right-hander has shown the ability to work the fastball in the upper 80's in the past with strong hand speed and he shows the type of athleticism it takes to make another big jump in velocity in the near future.
|
Eli McCall 3B / RHP / Bentonville, AR / 2024Rankings StateRank: 22 / POS: 2
The infielder from Bentonville has seen a steady rise in his game over the past couple of years and is starting to see the ball jump off the barrel more. The physical right-handed hitter shows strength in the lower half that he uses effectively and quick hands through the zone to create strong gap power. As he continues to gain more experience in the box and adds some strength, keep McCall on your follow list heading into the summer.
