JUCO Spotlight - Colton Sagely
May 15, 2023
Sophomore OF Colton Sagely has had a great year for Carl Albert in 2023, slashing .365/.471/.563 in 208 plate appearances across 47 games. He has displayed both power and speed, hitting 7 home runs with 41 RBI, while stealing 9 bases. Sagely’s 34 walks, compared to only 29 strikeouts, indicate impressive plate discipline. With 62 put outs, 2 assists, and no errors, his defense in the outfield has been fantastic. At last fall’s Carl Albert Scout Day, Sagely showcased a maximum exit velocity and distance of 100.3 MPH and 358 ft, a 62.5% hard hit percentage, and a 100% sweet spot percentage, indicating an ability to hit the ball hard and with consistency. His 25.4 maximum rotational acceleration and maximum on-plane efficiency of 83 support his impressive power. With his ability both as a hitter and in the field, Sagely should excite coaches at the next level.
