Here is the official release of the updated 2017 Arkansas Class Rankings. This was an extensive process that expanded the rankings from 30 to 75, since the rankings were released last January. This group of super sophomores are now entering their junior year and will be the focal point in recruiting conversations over the next several months.

The No. 1 now belongs to MIF Casey Martin. Martin has had a great summer showing off his superior athletic ability, a strong arm and an advanced offensive game. He had a great performance at the Top Prospects Game getting 4 hits during the games. Followed that up with a solid performance at the Underclass class games with 3 hits including a home run. He finished his summer with a bang hitting near .700 at the Premiere Nationals with the Arkansas Prospects, as they won the national championship.

Arkansas commit Evan Hooper follows Martin at the No. 2 spot. The speedster from Cabot has had a busy summer playing with Mariucci Elite and having solid performances at both PBR Arkansas Underclass events, including running a 6.37 in the 60 at the Top Prospects Games.

No. 5 Pierce Mithcum and No. 6 Austin Kelly are the biggest risers in the group and both are a bit under the radar. Mitchum is a competitive two sport player who spent a lot of time on the football field. He impressed when he was playing baseball showing plus athleticism running a 6.59 in the 60. He also swung the bat well at the Top Prospects Games. Kelly is flying under the radar due to the pitching depth at Bryant. The 6-foot RHP has a quick arm with velocities up 89 mph and an erratic but explosive slider.
