Excel Blue Wave 16U vs. Easley Baseball Club Pullen 16U
-Excel Blue Wave sent ‘22 LHP Eli Zielinski (Daphne HS) to the mound and gave the bullpen a rest for the day. Zielinski was magnificent, twirling 7 IP, 5 H’s, 0 R, 3 BB’s and 16 K’s. Showed the ability to mix his FB (79-81; T82) in and out and using a deceptive CH to be effective in his outing. Being only a rising sophomore, Zielinski is ultra projectable with a high ceiling. Keep an eye on this ‘22 LHP in the future.

-After scoring 18 runs yesterday, the Blue Wave relied on 2 key hits from a pair of ‘21s to score their only run. Heisler Heat 14U vs. Old Hickory Generals 14U
-One of the standouts in this game from the Old Hickory Generals was ‘23 SS Carson Rucker (Goodpasture Christian School; TN). Hitting in the 3-hole, Rucker smoked a line drive over the LF’s reach and rolled all the way to the wall for a 2 RBI inside the park HR that extended their lead to 3-0. Rucker is already a physical kid for his age with broad shoulders and good strength. Interesting follow.

-An early start this morning didn’t stop the ‘20 RHP/MIF Peyton Price (Seminole County HS; FL) from going the distance and getting the win for his Big League Xpress team. He was able to throw both his FB: 78-81 on both sides of the plate, he showed great command of both his FB and CB: 70-73. He produced multiple ground ball outs and for the most part was pitching to contact. He finished his CG performance with 7 IP, 4 H, 2 ER, 3 K’s and 4 BB’s. -The standout of this game was ‘20 3B Daniel McCary (Oneonta HS), who provided most of the offense for Baseball Country 17U. McCary was 3-4 w/ 1 2B and 4 RBI’s hitting in the 3-hole. Like the size (6’3 200 lbs) for the rising senior. Shouldn’t stay uncommitted for too long.

Aces 15U vs. 5 Star National Midsouth
-On the mound for the Aces this game was ‘22 RHP Carter Sanford (Spanish Fort HS). Sanford has a live arm for his age and it was on display today. Sanford came out sitting 84-86 and touched 87 before settling down to 82-84 in his 2nd inning of work. The right-hander would only throw 2 innings in his outing. Sanford occasionally struggled with his command but there’s no denying he has a live arm.

NABA Nationals vs. Showcase 17U Riley
-Loved what we saw today from the ‘20 LHP/OF Xavier Matthews (Mount Juliet HS; TN). He showed the ability to locate a 3 pitch mix that consisted of a FB, CB and CH. During his 5 IP today, Matthews was able to keep the Nationals guessing. He held them to 4 H while giving up 1 ER, 1 BB and had 5 K’s. Although he has a 5’9 150 lbs build, he threw the ball really well and helped lead Showcase 17U Riley to an 8-3 win. During his outing today he showed his FB: 77-79, CB: 66-68 and CH: 70-72. He was able to locate the CH down in the zone to help set up his FB on the inner half as well. A well-rounded athlete that has potential.

Dinger Nation Black 17U vs. Louisiana Knights 17U
-Arguably one of the best pitching performances of the day came from ‘21 RHP Cole Turner (Lawrence County HS). Turner turned in a CG performance while scattering 2 H’s, 2 R’s (0 ER), and striking out 10. The rising junior showed advanced command for his FB (82-83; T85) and his nasty CB (67-69). It’s and easy delivery to go along with his physical frame (6’4 200 lbs). Turner also flashed an above average CH (72-74) to LHH’s. One of the top uncommitted RHP in the ‘21 class.
Really like the way ‘21 RHP Cole Turner (@Cole_Turner5; @LC_Baseball16) goes about his business on the mound for @DingerNationBB 17U. Easy delivery. 8 K’s thru 5 IP. Complete Game 16U vs. Triton Rays 16U
-Impressive first 2 AB’s for ‘21 CF Isaiah Rainge (Grovetown HS; GA). In the first AB, Rainge hit a missile right at the 3rd baseman for an L5. In his 2nd AB, he got to 2 strikes and battled off some tough pitches before shooting a pitch down and away into the RCF gap only to get tracked down. Covers well defensively in the OF as well. College of Charleston commit.
‘21 CF Isaiah Rainge (@isaiah_rainge; Grovetown HS @PBRGeorgia) has squared two balls up in both plate appearances but has nothing to show for. Here’s his 2nd AB that gets tracked down in CF with 2 strikes. Advanced player. @CofCBaseball commit. @PBRTournaments pic.twitter.com/484oIpTvw8

-This game came down to the wire, as it was 1-1 all the way up to the bottom of the 7th when ‘22 OF Kaden Bryant (Homeschool; GA) came up to the plate with a runner on 3rd base and 1 out and crushed a ball over the LF’s head to send Triton Rays home a winner. Bryant has looked very good offensively this tournament.
NABA Nationals 15U vs. Easley Baseball Club 15U Williams
-Another solid arm that had a stellar performance tonight was ‘22 RHP/2B Kyle Washington (Tupelo HS; MS). The young RHP lead his team to a 3-1 win over NABA Nationals. Washington tossed a CG, while giving up just 4 H, 1 ER, 2 BB’s and 1 K. He pitched to contact and had fairly quick innings of work.
