Oct. 20 Alabama Fall Open Scout Analysis: Pitcher Only's

Tommy Fester (2020, RHP/3B, Cambridge GA) Mid 3/4 arm slot that showed deception in the clean delivery. The FB sat in the low 80’s and was up to 82 mph with spin rates in the low to mid 1900’s. The pitch showed nice ASR with some sink and the pitch came out of the hand very well. The breaking ball was 65-66 mph with spin rates in the upper 1800’s with late break and nice horizontal break to the glove side. The change up was 70-71 mph with nice sink and depth.

Brandon Brewer (2021, RHP/OF, Scottsboro) Tall, lanky RHP that has real nice potential. From a high ¾ arm slot, the FB sat low 80’s and was up to 82 mph with spin rates in the mid 2000’s. The pitch showed late life with some sink. The breaking showed slider type action with late cut to it with spin rates in the high 1900’s to low 2000’s. The change up was 76-77 mph with nice vertical break and arm side tumble. An interesting ‘21 arm to follow.    

Braydon Harvin (2021, RHP/SS, Houston Academy) Showed a very clean delivery from a high ¾ slot and the ability to command three different pitches. The FB was up to 81 mph with nice movement and late sink with spin rates in the mid 2000’s to low 2100’s. The breaking ball was more slider type action but also showed a bit of tilt at 71-72 mph and spin rates in the upper 1800’s. The change up was 72-74 mph with plus deception out of the hand, showing some tumble into RH hitters. A really intriguing arm on the mound.   

Tyler Perry (2020, RHP, Huntsville) Showed nice short arm action from a clean delivery. Showed lots of movement on the FB that was up to 75 mph with spin rates in the mid 1600’s. The change up showed nice deception from the same FB arm speed at 69-70 mph. Without a doubt his best pitch is his slider that was truly a late breaking pitch and was very difficult to pick up with nice, tight spin. The slider was anywhere from 63-65 mph with spin rates in the mid 2000’s to low 2100’s.
