Litsch's Lookback: Week 5
March 24, 2021
Litsch’s Lookback is a weekly segment that takes a look back at the standouts from that week around the state of Florida. The entire PBR Florida staff and myself will be out for coverage at High School, JUCO, and NCAA baseball games each week. We will highlight the biggest standouts from the games we saw that week.
This past week we were in Sanford for the PBR Spring Training which featured players from Canada, North Carolina, Alabama, and Puerto Rico. We also had coverage in the Panhandle with some of the top powerhouses in action in North Florida. Take a look at the players who stood out to myself and the rest of our staff this past week.
Jesse Litsch
2022 Mike Young, C, Next Level Academy
The uncommitted Young continues to show out at the plate using a short/compact swing and gets good extension. He has a good mindset at the plate and great plate discipline. Behind the plate he moves very well and has impressed with his catch and throw ability. Seems to always be one of the smarter guys on the field with great instincts.
2022 Ryan Clifford, OF, Pro5 Academy
6-foot-3, 215 lbs. The Vandy commit has a strong mature frame and shows the ability to hit with power to all fields. Showed a smooth balanced swig with electric hands. Has an advanced approach at the dish with a good mindset of the strike zone. Defensively moves well and showed a good arm from the outfield.
2023 Andrew Johnston, C/UTIL, PBR Canada
The strong bodied Johnston is one of the top 2023’s in Canada and did not disappoint down here being a stand out at the dish. He hit multiple barrels using a short inside out swing and stayed through the ball very well. He hit multiple balls to the right center field fence in game and his batting practice was very loud.
