2018 FUTURE GAMES - DAY 3 RECAP

With a victory on Day 2 over Michigan in the books, the Team Canada Futures delivered another win on Day 3 in exciting fashion.

With Team Canada down to their final two outs and down by three, 2020 outfielder Zach Laurie stole the show. The heavy-hitting left-handed stick crushed a bases-clearing triple to deep centre to tie the game. After an Elijha Hammill walk, he stole second, and Laurie scored from third on the throw, which would be the eventual game-winning run in an 8-7 thriller.

Aside from another win, we announced our first ever commitment at the event, with 2020 catcher Raphael Pelletier verbally committing to TCU.

Below we recap some of the highlights from the day:

Caden Griffin LHP / OF / John McCrae, ON / 2020

Recap: At 6-foot, 170-pounds, 2020 left-hander Caden Griffin doesn’t have much to offer from a size standpoint. From a pitching perspective, though, he’s a bulldog to say the least. Griffin sat in the 85-88 mph range with his fastball, flashing feel for a secondary pitch that he can throw for strikes, and maturity on the mound. Griffin has a quick arm, and has spent time with the Canadian Junior National Team, so he has an idea of how to pitch against pro hitters.
