Walker Retz (Boyceville, 2021) is enjoying a tremendous summer and backed up one of the Badger State Battle's most impressive pitching performances with another great look here for Turn 2 Athletics at The Rock. It's been awhile since we've seen Retz at an event, but he's listed at 6-foot-2, 175 pounds, and he wields long levers. His quick arm speed comes straight from an over-the-top slot, creating a steep tilt to home that's been tough to pick up in two live looks already this summer. In a lengthy outing against Great Lakes Academy, Retz sat 85-87 mph for virtually his entire start, mixing in a biting 75-77 mph slider that he's established real feel for. He was up to 88 mph earlier this month, and he's trending into one of the top uncommitted arms in the state.

One of the weekend's best performances landed this prospect on the '21 map. Retz dominated in a seven-inning lopsided no-hitter on Thursday. He struck out 17 batters on 93 pitches, having walked only one. He started the outing in the low-80s and the velocity just kept climbing, as he touched 88 mph a couple of times in the seventh and final frame. At one point, Retz K'd 13 batters in a row. The feel for three pitches, the stamina, and the overpowering outing have him as a need-to-know incoming senior in the state, and we're hoping to get another up-close look at him again this summer.

In day two of action Retz batted in the two hole and played center field for Kards 15U vs. Milwaukee Angles 15u. Retz continues to show a good approach at the plate, smooth in all his actions both in the batter’s box and in the field. 2-3 on the day with a base hit up the middle and a line drive triple over the center fielders head.

Was a two-way guy for Kards 15U vs. Hitters White 2022. On the mound, Retz shows quick arm action, level shoulders, in line with target, lands with a closed toe, drop/drive type. Works from a high ¾ arm slot. Retz showed a fastball, slider combo. Fastball ranged from 76-78 mph, and touching 79mph. Slider was 66-70 mph showing 11/5 shape. Arm speed on slider stayed near fastball arm speed. At the plate Retz hits from a slightly open, balanced set up, small leg lift trigger, short stride. Presented a short, level bat path, with a line drive, gap-to-gap approach.
