Cape Cod: Only played in three games for Brewster but made an impression on us with his knack for line-drive contact and quick hands (producing more impact on the baseball than you’d expect out of his listed 5-foot-9, 150-pound frame). He’s a plus runner, clocking 4.11 to first from the left side, and made a slew of impressive plays at short where his arm also plays
10/01/21
A Wisconsin prep, Pinales was the leadoff hitter for Wabash Valley last spring where he slashed .491/570/.744 with 17 doubles, nine triples and five HR. A switch-hitter who stands 5-foot-9, 160 pounds, "Savi" also has game changing speed with 64 stolen bases and plus base running instincts. Defensively, Pinales shows plus hands and feet with the ability to throw from all angles. He's a smooth defender with a quick release and average pro-caliber arm strength that plays up.
9/21/20
An athletic switch-hitting shortstop with an energetic personality and leadership qualities, Pinales is the type of prospect that scouts will likely give high marks on his makeup grade. His top tools are on the run/throw/defend side of the game, but he’s no slouch in the batter’s box. Showing good balance from both sides of the plate, Pinales has good hand/eye and bat to ball skills. He can drive the ball to either gap for doubles power with above average bat speed from the right side. He tended to sit on his backside and pull the ball more from the left side with better weight transfer and use of all fields from the right. Defensively, Pinales showed plus hands and feet with the ability to throw from all angles. He has a quick release with above average arm strength, plenty to remain at shortstop at the next level. Combines speed (6.68 sixty) and quick twitch with instincts for a constant base stealing threat.
6/14/18
6/14/18 - Highly athletic, energetic, 5-foot-9, 145-pound switch-hitting middle infielder, wiry, lean frame with strength, frame works loosely. Defensively, short, loose arm action, premium arm strength, high 3/4 slot, uses multiple angles on the move. Plays through the ball, hands work, quick on exchanges, clean and fluid footwork, covers ground well laterally. Offensively, switch hitter, similar swing and approach from both sides. Balanced, open setup, leg kick timing trigger, hands load back with some bat wrap. Quick twitch, present hand speed, aggressive approach, consistent hard contact, natural lift to swing, looks to drive to the pull side for power. High-end runner.
