3/16/14 - Ohio commit. Sturdy 5-foot-11, 190-pound left handed hitting catcher. High level hitter, has a strong knack for finding the barrel, controls his bat well. Hits from a slightly open stance, relaxed setup, smooth loading action, short stride, maintains excellent balance through contact. Short efficient path to the baseball, high contact hitter. Advanced approach that uses the whole field, Rott is one of the more polished hitters in his class. Defensively uses a short arm action from an over the top slot out of the crouch, played at 78 mph with carry. Pop times ranged from 2.08-2.14, improved footwork and explosiveness out of the crouch can improve pop times. Soft hands receives well within the framework of his body.
11/17/13 - Verbally committed to Ohio University.
8/2/13 - Rott may be one of the more overlooked left handed hitters in the Class of 2015. Rott doesn’t wow you with his physical attributes but the fact of the matter is he can flat out hit. Rott finished with five hits in eight at bats on the weekend facing the top arms from around the Midwest. Rott has one of the prettiest bat paths in the class, he’s short to the baseball and stays through it well with the ability to spray the baseball to all fields. He has a highly balanced approach and takes what is given to him at the plate, showing an advanced ability to hit the baseball where it is pitched. There is no doubt that Rott will be able to hit at a high level going forward, the questions will be at what position. We’ve initially seen him behind the plate, however he has also been getting his feet wet in the outfield as well as first base this summer. Rott shows enough athletic ability to be serviceable at any of those positions, posting a pop time of 2.07-2.11 at the Midwest Future Games. Whatever position Rott continues to advance in there is no question his bat will be there.
3/3/13 - Sturdy build, solid frame, 5-foot-10, 185-pound left handed hitting catcher. Offensively shows an advanced approach at the plate. Excellent setup, balanced stance, smooth load, short stride, excellent balance through finish. Bat path repeats well, simple actions, short path with extension, line drive gap to gap hitter. Makes consistent contact, fluid rhythm, 79 mph exit velocity. Defensively show a short arm action, 72 mph arm from the crouch, 2.11-2.18 pop times. Footwork lacks quickness but makes up for it with good direction to second base.
10/28/12 - Rott showed well as a left handed hitting catcher and right handed pitcher. Offensively, Rott hits from an open stance using a smooth load and short stride. His setup and swing is very quiet and efficient. He showed the ability to work both gaps with pop using an easy swing that showed solid extension. Defensively, Rott's best pop time recorded was a 2.15 showing arm strength of 71 mph from the crouch. Rott sets up well behind the plate giving his pitcher a strong low target. Rott also ran a 7.36 in the 60 and showed solid athleticism.
