3/23/22
One of the more impressive physical players in attendance was that of Wright. From the left hand box, Wright had some of the best intent we’ve seen all winter in regards to younger players. Showing a real feel for the importance of hitting line drives hard with proper intent. Wright drove baseballs with a high hard hit percentage (37%). One of two players who registered “hard hits” with a quality barrel feel, and above average barrel control for operating at a higher intensity in the box. On the defensive side, Wright squared up all ground balls and throws to his frame, and secured the baseball with stiffer, yet effective hands.
6/06/21
5-foot-8, 165-pound left/left 1B/OF, thick and muscular lower half. Finished near the top of the hit leaderboard for the entire tournament. Balanced tall in the box with some bend in the lower half, active hand rhythm pre-pitch, hands slot directly backwards at load, short stride. Compact left-handed stroke, simple without much additional movement and stays on a flat plane through contact. Repeatedly worked on the barrel and to his pull-side; ambushed a few fastballs into the right-center gap for extra bases. Also sent a deep grand slam to straight away center field on Saturday afternoon. Intriguing bat-first follow.
