Schaffner a 2021 PBR Future Game participant, began his day by running one of the faster 60-yard dash times, at 7.02 seconds. At 6-foot-2, 185 pounds, the middle infielder brought an athletic body with some room to fill out. Schaffner really stood out on the offensive side during live game action on Tuesday, as he finished at 2-for-3 with a home run, triple, two walks, and three RBIs. The to-be senior featured a short, quick swing with the ability to find barrels in every at bat. Schaffner’s work in live action proved him to be a quality hitter coming out of the Wisconsin 2023 class.

Schaffner looks to have grown an inch or two, now listed at 6-foot-1, 170 pounds, and he is still an advanced runner having recorded a personal PBR best, 6.78 60-yard dash at the workout portion of the Future Games. Schaffner showed a smooth, fundamental left-handed swing that sprayed line-drive contact to all fields. He also took a quality round of infield defense with fluid footwork and room to continue to develop.

A left-handed-hitting infielder who showed above-average bat-to-ball skills. He swings from a spray/line-drive approach that is simple and easy, while using the whole field. Defensively, he plays low to the ground with receptive hands, fluid footwork and an advanced/smooth double play turn. Schaffner is a 6.89 runner with an 81 mph arm across the diamond as well. Look for him to rise up the ‘23 rankings when we update our sophomore board after the winter.
