With a strong, steady wind blowing out to center field Jacob Kisting earned the W in the series opener with six innings of strikes. Loose-armed from a three-quarters slot, the freshman right-hander worked his fastball in the 88-89 range, while consistently spinning a late-actioned curveball in the upper-70s. He also mixed in an effective 78-81 mph changeup. He pounded the bottom of the zone with all three pitches, maybe too much as he could elevate his fastball a little more often to move the hitter's eyes. Kisting departed after six innings with eight strikeouts and 116 pitches. There's more velo to come from Kisting and he's one to watch develop for the 2024 draft, currently projecting as a Day Two type prospect.

6-foot-5, 185 pounds; long and lanky levers with athleticism involved. A live arm with some big upside that he’s been tapping into over the past year or so. This time last year, sat 78-79 mph; was sitting 84-86 mph out of the bullpen on Saturday, touching 87 multiple times. Live, loose, quick arm with low effort, extension and carry through the strike zone. Utilized a tight, sharp slider, 71-74 mph, that earned some ugly chases under the zone. Struck out six in four innings of relief work without allowing a run against a competitive lineup. Kisting is becoming one of the top uncommitted arms in the state’s ‘21 class and he’ll make a loud splash the next time we update our state incoming senior rankings.
