Ranked just outside the top-100 in Wisconsin’s 2021 class, Brinkman has consistently shoved all summer, and now it’s carried over into the fall. The 6-foot, 170-pound southpaw fills up the strike zone with low-80s stuff that is difficult to square up, seemingly, as he dodges barrels with every look. He pairs the fastball with a tight slider that he has advanced feel for. The spin rates here on both pitches support his ability to miss bats, and his strike-throwing traits could offer some upside at the next level, as he’s still uncommitted.
6-foot, 170 pounds; lanky levers. Short, loose arm action from a high ¾ slot. Owns the tempo, working at his own pace. Fastball sits 79-82 mph, touched 83 early, featuring some solid horizontal action, some late. Slider sits 73-74, short 1/7 action, 2,200 rpm.
Positional Profile: LHP; performed very well all summer in front of our staff and is still uncommitted.
Body: 6-0, 168-pounds. Strong, athletic frame.
Delivery: Repeatable drop/drive type delivery, heavy quad load, lead leg swing, closed front side. Open-toed landing, maintains linear progression to target, works in rhythm.
Arm Action: Short arm action, high 3/4 slot.
FB: T82, 77-81 mph. Generates arm-side action with carry through the zone; good spin for velocity range, topping 2,317 rpm.
SL: 72-75 mph. 2/8 shape with some sweep, late break at times; strikes. Comfort and confidence with it.
Positional Profile: LHP
Body: 6-foot, 160-pounds.
Delivery: Tall/fall delivery, easy effort, good tempo on the mound, creates angle.
Arm Action: LH. Short draw, loose arm action, high 3/4 slot, quick arm speed.
FB: T78, 76-77 mph. Thrown for strikes, slight arm side run.
CB: 68-71 mph. 1/7 shape, occasional sweep to it.
