2020 DRAFT: Six-foot-5, 210 pounds. Emanuels has a tall, durable frame with a sloped upper half and some room left for projection. He's a low mileage arm transitioning to a starting role for the first time; only 99.0 collegiate IP between 2018 and 2019 combined. He shows a simple, repeatable delivery with a quick, consistent pace. Works from a three-quarter slot with a full, continuous arm path. He sets up on the first base side of the rubber but avoids throwing across his body. His direction with his lower half consistently allows him to extend his breaking ball out to this glove side and gives his fastball the chance to create more run while still staying in the zone. His fastball sits 88-90 mph and peaks at 91-92. Emanuels throws with starter type effort and could potentially have more velocity in the tank. As it stands now, his fastball really plays up at 88-90 due to his ability to run it down and in on a right handed hitters. He pitches exceptionally well to his arm-side, creating a ton of ground ball contact. His curveball is quality offering that shows above average at times, ranging between 75-80 both from the wind-up and out of the stretch. It features tight, 11/5 shape with carry through the zone. He understands when to get it over for a strike early and can alter his reference point when he needs to expand the zone. Overall, Emanuels is making a seamless transition to a starting role in 2020, showing plenty of poise and feel for controlling the game while being asked to get more outs than he's accustomed to. Overall, he has a good chance to land in the top five rounds.
3/8/20: Six-foot-5, 210 pounds. Emanuels has a tall, durable frame with a sloped upper half and some room left for projection. He’s a low mileage arm transitioning to a starting role for the first time; only 99.0 collegiate IP between 2018 and 2019 combined. Simple, repeatable delivery with a quick, consistent pace. Works from a three-quarter slot with a full, continuous arm path. Sets up on the first base side of the rubber but avoids throwing across his body. From the catcher’s viewpoint, Emanuels’ landing foot gets down directionally well into the LH batter’s box. His direction with his lower half consistently allows him to extend his breaking ball out to this glove side and gives his FB the chance to create more run while still staying in the zone. FB sat 88-90 mph throughout his seven innings of work and peaked at 91 in both the 1st and 5th inning. Throws with starter type effort and could potentially have more velocity in the tank if he decides to truly cut it loose. As it stands now, the FB really plays up at 88-90 due to his ability to run it down and in on a RHH. Pitches exceptionally well to his arm-side, creating a ton of ground ball contact. Produced 11 groundouts to only two fly outs on this look. CB is quality offering that shows above average at times, ranging between 75-80 both from the wind-up and out of the stretch. Features tight, 11/5 shape with carry thru the zone. Understands when to get it over for a strike early and can alter his reference point when he needs to expand the zone. Overall, Emanuels is making a seamless transition to a starting role in 2020. Showing plenty of poise and feel for controlling the game while being asked to get more outs than he’s accustomed to. Definite Day Two prospect with the chance to land in the top 4-5 rounds if he starts to show more velo or adds a third offering to his arsenal. (Jurik)
3/5/18: The most interesting underclass sophomores on the mound were Stevie Emanuels, a 6’5 slender bodied RHP, and Sunday starter Jordan Jones. Emanuels relieved in two games, both times working with a 89-92 mph fastball with good angle from 3/4 slot. (Seifert)
