5-foot-10, 180 pounds with a lean frame and pound for pound strength. Similar set-up to our previous look, staying mostly tall with some slight bend on his backside. Short, subtle forward stride. Hands were more relaxed on this look & showed more rhythm prior to swing. Uses mostly an up-the-middle approach in BP but will flash lift to his pull-side. Posted solid rotational numbers on Blast, reinforcing his movements/sequence are dialed in and help him deliver the barrel efficiently. Defensively, remains an athletic receiver behind the plate & his quickness translates well to his actions. Fast, active hands on the exchange. Throwing motion stays tight into high ¾ release. Backside comes around after each throw. Solid footwork when recovering after a block or working to field a bunt.
7/22/20
5-foot-10, 180 pounds with a strong build throughout his frame and added physicality from his previous event in 2019. Offensively, uses a tall, narrow set up with upper half slightly rotated inward. Takes a low, short stride to create his forward move. Hands stay loaded at back shoulder with subtle movement to sync up with lower half. Keeps barrel inside of the ball and attacks zone with a tight, compact swing. Stays in lower half thru contact and sinks into back-side as he gets hip rotation. Gap to gap power with some lift to his pull-side. Behind the plate, does a solid job keeping hips low and receiving with a soft glove hand. Shows a slight hinge in waist to create some trunk tilt and present a more compact target. Staggers his lower half before getting into throwing motion. Clean, consistent exchange at chest height. Keeps short, bent arm action with a high ¾ release. Ball showed true carry out of hand with consistent accuracy
