Dean stands around 6-foot-1 with lean strength present throughout the frame. On the mound he starts with a simple efficient delivery that is slightly upright. Shoulders are level, moves down the mound on line, and finishes falling off towards the first base side. The arm swing is short and works from a higher slot with plenty of arm speed through release. The fastball was an above average spin pitch ranging from 2300-2512 and played at both ends of the zone. The fastball velo stayed between 89-91 mph throughout his six innings, with a few 88's and a few 92's sprinkled in. The fastball was more control than command. It jumps on hitters pretty quick, especially when he stays through it a little longer and does not rush out. The fastball showed occasional boring action down and in to right handers. It did not appear as though this was something he was doing intentionally, but as he continues to polish if he can show the ability to do that consistently there will be a lot of uncomfortable at bats for right handed hitters. Showed what appeared to be two different breaking balls. A curveball that sat 71-74 mph with varying shapes and had average feel for the zone. The curveball had more of a get over type of feel and the arm slowed just a tick. The slider had harder break with some occasional depth at 75-77 mph. Showed a few changeups at 79-80 mph. Had some feel for the strike zone with the changeup and it showed more straight change profile. The arm speed lacked on the changeup, but it tunneled well with the fastball coming out of the same slot. All of the secondary pitches were average and flashed some potential when the fastball arm speed was present.

Dean has a lanky athletic frame with plenty of projection still left to it. At the plate hits from a taller athletic set up with hands just above the shoulder. Has a shorter load to hitting position, short swing path to the baseball, showed some bat speed. Shows potential at the plate, need to see it again. Athletic actions defensively, played a solid middle infield. Played second this game and looks like has the ability to play short. Showed ability to throw baseball from multiple angles and throws did show some carry on them.
