Hartman is 6-0 with an athletic frame that still has plenty of projection left to it. He throws from a three-quarters arm slot with a short loose arm action that is quick, he throws with some effort. Shoulders are uphill and closed, lands on line with a slight fall off finish. Fastball was 82-85, with downward plane and some late run to armside, showed a two-seamer with more pronounced life to it. Curveball was 72-74 with good armspeed and late sharp 1/7 break to it. Slider was swing and miss, had sharp 2/8 break and good armspeed, running 73-75. Change-up was 77-79 with good armspeed and some late fade to it. At the plate, he hits from the left side from a leaned back upright stance, short stride on line, loads back with a slight wrap, explosive lower half, hips rotate completely, good balance to swing. Quick bat, level line drive stroke, strength at contact with some extension through the ball, showed good approach working gap to gap, can generate power when turns on a ball, exit velocity was 85. In the outfield, clean exchange, throws from a three-quarters arm slot, outfield velocity was 84. Ran a 7.19 60 yard dash.
9.25.17: Hartman is 6-0 with a lankier athletic frame, hits from the left side from an athletic stance. Leg kick stride, smooth load back, some rhythm to his swing. Explosive lower half with some balance. Quick to ball, works uphill with a line drive swing, shows some gap power and barrel awareness, exit velocity was 81. In the outfield, good footwork, gets behind ball and plays through it well, fields with soft hands. Quick clean exchange, throws from a three-quarters arm slot with a shorter, loose, quick arm action, outfield velocity was 83. Ran a 7.45 60 yard dash. On the mound, throws with a drop and drive delivery from a three-quarters arm slot, short arm action that is quick with some effort to his delivery. Shoulders level and slightly closed, lands square with an athletic finish. Fastball sat 77-80, touching 81, with some downward plane and late run to it. Curveball had sharp 1/7 break and good armspeed at 70. Slider had late 2/8 break and good armspeed at 72. Change-up was 72 with fade and good armspeed. Showed good feel and command of all four pitches.
6.25.17: Has an athletic frame. In the outfield, gets decent breaks on the ball, accurate arm with some carry. At the plate, hits from the left side, short to ball with some batspeed. Gap power and consistent contact, good approach. On the mound, athletic delivery with normal effort, throws from a three-quarters arm slot. Fastball has some run, sitting 77-80. Throws a curve and slider, curve has 1/7 shape and is sharp. Slider has 2/8 shape and has late hard break. Developing change-up has fading action to it and some armspeed.
