Brooks has a compact athletic frame standing around 5-foot-9. Since I saw him last summer Brooks looks to have toned up the frame and added some athleticism. I have been wanting to see Brooks on the mound this spring and I got to see one inning of relief on Wednesday. Brooks works with intent and pace. Attacks hitters with the fastball and flashed some command to the glove side. It is a short quick low three-quarter arm with some arm speed through release. The fastball was 84-86 and touched 87 in the short work that I saw Wednesday. The breaking ball has tight 12/6 action at 67-69 mph with average feel for the zone. Overall the velocity has creeped up a little bit and he continues to be efficient in the times I have seen him.

Athletic compact frame. Controlled pace to delivery, closes off at balance, and strides down and out landing closed. Short quick arm action from a three-quarter arm slot and pitches with intent. Fastball sat 80-83 and touched 84 a few times. Breaking ball had 11/5 shape at 64-66 mph with hard late bite that played well off the fastball
