Large 6-foot-4, 205-pound frame. Normal effort delivery, hips slightly elevated, and lands slightly closed. Kennedy throws from a high three-quarter arm slot with a longer arm swing on the backside. The fastball sat 87-89 mph and touched 90 a couple of times in his three innings of work. It played mostly to the arm side and up with gradual fade, but when he did get it out front and got it to the glove side it seemed to have a little extra hop through the zone. Kennedy threw two breaking balls, both for strikes. The curveball had a 12/6 break with bigger shape and looked to be more of an early count strike pitch at 73-74 mph. The slider sat at 75-78 mph and flashed some hard depth at times. In my opinion, the slider was the better out pitch of the two and when the shape gets more consistent it has a chance to be a legitimate out pitch. Did not throw many changeups, but I did get two at 80 mph and he showed a solid feel for the small sample.

Kennedy is a Virginia Tech commit and is 6-4 with a projectable athletic frame that has room to add strength. He throws from a three-quarters arm slot, very short loose quick arm action and normal to some effort to his delivery. Fastball was 88-91, touching 92 once. Pitch gets downward angle and a bit of late armside run to it. Curveball was 74-75 with bigger sharp 12/6 break that sometimes shifted to 11/5 depending on the spot. Slider was 76-79 with good armspeed and hard power 11/5 to 10/4 break, pitch flashed swing and miss. Overall showed control of his pitches but not command yet, was around the strikezone but missed spots. Fastball sat 91 in the windup in the first, touching 92 once. When he was in the stretch, didn't slide step, used a shorter leg lift and was 88-89, touching 91 in the first inning. Velocity mostly held throughout his outing, he was 89-90, touching 91 in the third inning. Threw a very fastball heavy mix. Slider and curveball have similar shapes but the slider is harder and sharper. Still has a lot of development and projection left.
