Carroll stands about 6-foot with a thin projectable frame and room to add strength. Carroll was first in relief in Monday night's game versus Midlothian and he had a very solid outing. He threw five and one-third and only allowed one hit with eleven strikeouts. Carroll starts with a side step rocker and shifts sides of the rubber. Gathers over the rubber with tall posture and a higher balance point, uses a down and out move home, and lands slightly closed at foot strike. Shoulders are level and closed before a clean hand break to a shorter arm circle and throws from a three-quarter arm slot. Fastball had some arm side run and sat at 77-79 mph touching 80 a few times. Had solid feel for a 11/5 curveball and showed ability to throw it to both sides of the plate, as he backed it up on righties numerous times. Curveball sat between 65-67 mph. Carroll didn't have big numbers, but he did an outstanding job of challenging hitters early and finishing them late with either pitch.
