Yates is 6-3 with an athletic frame with projection left to it, he hits from the right side from a balanced athletic stance. Short stride on line, loads back, has some rhythm, hips rotate completely and he maintains some balance. Very short path to the ball, whippy bat, works uphill through contact. Line drive swing that sets up well to pull, showed good approach working gap to gap, exit velocity was 85. In the infield, gets body behind ball and fields with average hands. Works through the ball, throws from a high three-quarters arm slot with a free arm action, infield velocity was 79. On the mound throws from a high three-quarters arm slot with a long free arm action and normal effort. Shoulders are uphill and on line, lands square with an athletic finish. Fastball was 80-82, touching 83 with good downward plane and some armside run to it. Curveball was 68-69 with hard 12/6 break and good armspeed. Change-up had good armspeed and was 74-76.
