Second baseman Nick Zona paced the Dukes with four singles in nine at-bats (.444) and his .500 OBP also led JMU. The 6-foot-2, 200-pound speedy gloveman also added a walk and a stolen base while hitting ninth in the lineup.
Nick has a tall slender athletic frame with room to grow. Sound glove with good range in the infield. Polished actions with an average arm and good instincts. Above average runner. At the plate Nick has a high leg kick and strides slightly open. He has a fluid swing with some bat speed and keeps the bat head in the hitting zone.
4.10.17: Zona has an athletic frame and looks taller than most shortstops, could end up growing out of the position. Quick clean feet, fields with a wide base and soft hands. Short arm action that is loose from a three-quarters arm slot. Athletic stance, line drive swing with some power potential, level swing with good approach. Grand slam in first at bat was a line drive that carried out. Can handle bat, dropped a drag bunt for hit.
