Hawley had a huge day for Cox. Got the start on the mound for Cox where he struck out nine over five innings, mostly on fastballs. Early on Hawley's fastball sat 83-86 touching 87. Later into his start he was more in the 82-85 range, but was still getting swings and misses on the fastball especially up in the zone. Showed two breaking balls on the day, a bigger 12/6 curveball that seems to be his most comfortable secondary and a slider with late sweeping action. At the plate Hawley had the biggest at bats of the day for Cox. Started the scoring in the second with a solo home run, a two out RBI double in the bottom of the fifth, and a walk-off single in the bottom of the seventh. I have seen Hawley on multiple occasions and the biggest takeaway I get with him is that it does not matter who he is facing, or what he has brought to the park that day, he is going to compete every pitch. VMI commit.

Athletic frame with some projection left to it, standing around 6-foot-2. On the mound shoulders are uphill and closed moving towards the plate, engages backside well, and has an average arm circle. Throws from an over-the-top arm slot. Fastball played downhill with occasional arm side run and worked to both sides of the plate at 81-82 mph. Breaking ball showed a tight 12/6 shape at 68-69 mph and was a solid secondary pitch.
