Cape Cod: Made 14 starts for GMU this spring but posted a 6.38 ERA, then followed it up by going 2-1, 6.62 with 17 strikeouts and 12 walks in 17.2 innings for Orleans. A 6-foot-3, 210-pound southpaw with a high three-quarters slot, Eaton sets up on the far third-base side of the rubber and has some deception in his delivery, making his 90-92 mph fastball jump on hitters a bit, with decent riding action (19-21 inches of IVB). He also showed a decent sweeping slider at 80-82, though he had a tendency to get on the side of it and leave it over the plate. His 82-85 changeup was also inconsistent but could be serviceable at times.

Eaton is 6-2 with a lanky frame that has a lot of projection left to it. He hits from the right side from a slightly open balanced athletic stance, low leg kick stride on line, smooth load back. Hips rotate completely with some violence and he maintains good lower half balance. Hands stay inside, quick to the ball, uphill swing path, showed primarily a pull approach with the ability to work the gaps, swing generates loft in the gaps, exit velocity was 84. In the outfield, gets behind the ball and fields through it with above average hands, quick clean exchange, throws from a high three-quarters arm slot, position velocity was 91. Ran a 7.50 60 yard dash. He throws from a very low three-quarters arm slot, longer loose quick arm action and easier effort to his delivery. Shoulders are level and closed, lands closed with an athletic finish. Fastball was 84-86, touching 87, with hard run to armside and a bit of depth to it. Curveball had good armspeed and was 74-76 with late sharp 2/8 break. Change-up had good armspeed and was 74-75 with heavy sink. Feel for all three pitches in any count.

Loose left handed arm that was 83-86 in the first and settled in 82-85 in the second inning. The fastball has late arm side life and gets swings and misses. Profiles as middle/back end reliever with a potential plus slider that sat 74-75 mph and disappeared. Displayed ability to end counts with the slider whenever he wanted. Has some two-way potential with some pull side gap power in the swing, but long term will be on a pitching staff at the next level.

On the mound, throws from a three-quarters arm slot, shorter loose arm action, normal effort to his delivery. Shoulders are uphill and online, lands slightly closed with an athletic finish. Eaton is a left-handed pitcher with a projectable athletic build standing around 6-foot-1. Came on in late relief for Prince George. His fastball sat at 77-80 and touched 81 once, but what stood out most is the significant arm side run he got. He got numerous swings and misses on the fastball that kept taking off away from right handers. The curveball wasn't working today as it had more side to side shape and he couldn't locate it in warmups, or in the game. The breaking ball sat at 68-70 when he threw it. There is present arm speed on the pitch, but just needs to get a consistent feel for it.

Preseason All State Session I Athletic projectable frame at 6-foot-1, 175-pounds. Side to side rocker step to start his windup getting to a consistent balance point. Engages the lower half early and gets down the mound well. Lands on line at finish and consistently stays in line to the plate. Arm was pretty clean and showed some arm speed throwing from a high three-quarter arm slot. Fastball showed carry through the zone at 80-82 mph. Curveball had a tight 1/7 shape at 69-71. Slider was 70-72. Changeup showed some late fade and present arm speed being thrown at 72-74. All offspeed played well off the fastball and showed intent on all three secondary pitches. Athletic slightly crouched setup at the plate from the right side. Stance starts square with a knee to knee leg lift landing on line. Loads the front shoulder closed with a slight wrap and bat is quick and flat to the ball with an uphill finish. Lower half finishes completely and exit velo was 83 mph on the day. Had one of the more impressive arms from the outfield posting a positional velocity of 87 mph. Feet were active on approach with solid glove presentation. Arm action is longer, but showed solid arm speed getting it through from a high three-quarter arm slot. Home-1st time was 4.75.
