Loper has an athletic durable pictures frame with room to grow. Loper has a slower controlled build up style delivery with a long and free arm action throwing from a high 3/4 slot. He creates fast arm speed while pitching with light effort on the mound. The fastball was 87 to 89 that showed occasional sink and occasional cut on the pitch. His breaking ball ranged from 78 to 80 and has a shorter more gradual slider action with 10/4 shape it shows swing and miss potential and could easily be a put-away pitch. Loper did show feel for a changeup that he did not throw it much in the game. Loper was eased into this start as he was on a lower pitch count and pulled early in the game. His frame with easy delivery with low stress on the arm looks like he could be a rotation starter at the next level once he fully develops.
7.10.17 - Duke Commit - RHP had a dominant spring as part of the Hickory pitching staff with 2017 Hunter Gregory. Loper had a strong season on the year and has carried that into the summer reportedly getting up to 90 mph on the mound. Loper pitches in the mid-to-upper 80's with prorjection.
