Slade is a Virginia Tech commit and is 6-3 with a lankier athletic frame that has a lot of projection and room to add strength. Didn't get a chance to do much at the plate, was hit by pitches twice and walked in his first three plate appearances. In his final at-bat, was just under the ball for a fly out to center. Quick swing and some whip in his bat, long arms generate leverage after contact, has power potential at the plate that he will have a chance to access as he continues to get stronger. Defensively, soft hands, fields with a wider base, smooth actions. Throws from a low three-quarters to sidearm slot, showed an average arm in warm-ups, but its a loose easy arm action, easily above average with potential to increase. A lot of quick-twitch as an athlete.

Slade has a tall thin athletic frame with a lot of projection left to it. At the plate, hits from a slightly open balanced athletic stance, short to the ball, keeps hands inside, bat has some whip, strong at contact with extension in his swing, has a chance to grow into some power as he fills out. On the mound, throws from a higher three-quarters arm slot, drop and drive delivery, short loose quick arm action with easy effort. Throws a very heavy ball. Threw exclusively his fastball during his outing, was pitching late with a big lead. Fastball was 76-81 overall, with some downward angle and late armside run. He was 79-81 when he was in the wind or leg lift stretch, 76-78 when he was in a slide step. Has a lot of velocity upside as continues to develop.
