Tuft was in the four hole on Friday night, behind Eldridge who got intentionally walked five times. Therefore, he was going to get a lot of pitches to hit and have a lot of opportunities to drive in runs. And he came through. Had a sac fly early on and that was one of the jump starters for the offense to get some runs on the board. Later on when Madison had taken the lead, Eldridge was walked to load the bases with one out and they got to Tuft. Tuft then delivered a 0-1 home run that would put the game away for the Warhawks. Overall this week Tuft displayed quick hands, short to contact, and feel for the barrel. Really like the athleticism and versatility that comes along with it. UVA commit.

Tuft has a long lanky athletic frame with plenty of room to fill out. Behind the plate he is a quiet receiver with strong hands and above average receiving ability. Moves well laterally while blocking, recovers quickly, and has average/above average arm strength. It is a quick exchange and a short arm with accuracy around the bag. Between innings he stayed between 2.01-2.06 on pop and it transfers in game as well. The balance is there on in game pops, he is under control, and is accurate. He threw out a runner in the first inning that was stealing third. Had a nice quick jab step in line with the throw to third base and put it right on the bag. At the plate it is a slightly open stance, small lift to stride, and lands square, Hands have minimal load and is short to contact with quick hands through the zone. Had nice balance in the swing and used the whole field in his at bats. 2-3 on the night with a single through the left side and a single through the right side. UVA commit.

Tuft is tall with a lankier athletic frame that has a lot of projection left to it. He has a ton of speed for his position and is an aggressive baserunner who had a couple good jumps on stolen bases, his speed and quickness would be elite at any position. Quickness on display when he basically ran himself out of a rundown he had no business escaping. At the plate, hits from an open balanced athletic stance, short leg kick stride on line. Short and very quick to the ball with strength at contact and extension through the ball, uphill through contact and generates a lot of loft naturally. Walked once and then mashed a pair of balls in his other at-bats, a bullet single to center and then came about 2 feet short of going long ball to dead center. Good approach working middle of the field, has a ton of power to all fields and still is not close to his ceiling.
