Childs is 6-4 with a lanky athletic 170 pound frame that has a lot of projection left to it. He hits from the right side from a slightly open balanced athletic stance, low leg kick stride on line, short load back. Hips rotate completely with some violence and he maintains good lower half balance. Hands stay inside, goes straight to the ball, slightly uphill line drive swing path with strength at contact and good extension through the ball, showed good approach working gap to gap, extra base power present with more in the tank as he develops, long limbs have a chance to create a lot of leverage as he gets stronger, exit velocity was 89. In the infield, rounds ball and fields with a wider base and above average hands, works through the ball to a quick clean exchange, throws from a low three-quarters arm slot, very short quick arm action, position velocity was 85. Ran a 7.45 60 yard dash. On the mound, he throws from a low three-quarters arm slot, very short loose quick arm action and some effort to his delivery. Drop and drive delivery, shoulders are uphill and closed, lands closed with an athletic finish. Fastball was 79-81, touching 82, with some late hard armside run that gets a bit of depth as well. Curveball was 66-69 with good armspeed and sharp 10/4 break to it. Change-up was 75-78 with good armspeed and late fade to it.
