McDonald is a James Madison commit. He has an athletic frame and smooth actions on the infield with good feet. At the plate, hits from the right side from a slightly open athletic stance. Short quick swing and a fast bat, slightly uphill path and a line drive hitter who shows some power in the gaps and ability to use the whole field.

McDonald is a James Madison commit, he has an athletic 5-9 frame that still has projection left to it. At short, moves well laterally and gets to balls, above average hands and a quick clean exchange. Arm is average to slightly above. At the plate, hits from a slightly open balanced athletic stance. Short and quick to the ball, keeps hands inside, gets uphill through contact point and generates loft, has strength at contact and power in the gaps. He didn't get much to hit in the game, drawing walks in his first two at-bats before lining out to right on a two strike pitch in the video, he did a good job of letting the ball get deep and getting the barrel on it.

Compact athletic frame standing 5-foot-9, 165-pounds. Athletic square stance, stride forward landing on line, and hands make minimal load back. Hand speed and strength whipping barrel through the zone with a fairly level path. Worked gap to gap with plenty of carry showing some power potential. Exit velocity was 89 mph. Defensively was fluid on approach, fielded out front with above average hands, and had ample arm speed and strength across with a 82 mph positional velocity. Showed comfort throwing from a variety of slots and making plays on the run. Ran a 4.24. Home-1st. Nice looking athletic infielder to keep an eye on moving forward.
