The Edmonds CC commit has been a staple at PBR events and always turns in one of the top 60’s at each event. This event was no different, as Watterson clocked a 6.60 and uses' that speed at the HS level to rack up SB’s. Also a two sport All-State athlete, where he also excelled on the football field. Once Cole is focused on baseball full time at the next level, and turns his twitchy yet muscled build, into further improvements on the baseball side, his all fields approach and all out aggressive style of play, he should be a force on both sides of the ball.
6/19/21
The leader in the clubhouse at the Preseason All-State event with a 6.55/60, he followed that up with the second fastest time of 6.59 at the Top Prospect Games. A strong HS season catapulted Cole to All-State honors as he carried .390 BA on a team that hit .251 as a team! Cade stole 24 bases from the leadoff spot and ran down balls in CF as he played very well defensively in the game portion of this event. Small and compact with a ripped muscular build. Watterson is twitchy with an unorthodox type of swing and stroke, but the contact skills are there with the hand/eye to hit balls to either side of a SS, and he’s a threat for an INF hit most of the time. The speed plays and can’t be taught, but he does track balls in CF with good instincts and takes avg routes.
12/27/21 UPDATE: Cole was also named a 2021 1st Team All-State defensive back in Football!
3/22/21
A small compact put together type with a live active lower 1/2. There is twitch, as he ran an event best 6.55/60 yard dash and can really scoot! His arm action in the OF is short and quick, and his arm plays fringe. The bat shows potential, as he has a solid LD swing pattern, though the body tends to go get the ball with a shin high knee lift to start his lower 1/2 in the swing. The hand/bat speed need to improve to hit quality next level pitching. With the right hitting instruction and some tweaks to his overall body movement patterns, he could unlock his potential. Because of the raw speed aspect of his game, it would be interesting if he could learn to switch hit and take advantage of his run tool.
