Lombana has improved his overall repertoire as much as any ‘24 in the state over the last calendar year. At the ‘22 Future Games sitting 78-82 with the FB with the occasional 84, Drew now sits 85-88 in short bursts and touched 89 for a personal high at the August West Coast Games in Las Vegas. A LHP with a high 80’s FB that throws K’s, competes and gets outs, along with physically maturing from 6-2 175 to 200 solid Lbs currently, is enough for me to offer right now. Featuring a flexible high kick to his delivery and working an elongated stride, and getting into his legs downhill, Lombana has the man strength potential to see 90-92 next spring, to really jump on the radar. Looking for an academic style institution to take his game and make an impact, any baseball school that jumps on this kid, could see the under the radar type lightning in a bottle type success that will make others take a second look as to why they are passing on his upside. A mid-major type D1, high end D2 or nationally ranked JUCO should be knocking this kid's door down right now. The 3A state playoff MVP as a sophomore, almost single handedly carried Juan Diego Catholic on his back to the 3A State Title in 2022.

An intriguing LH arm that has put himself in a good position, as he has come to numerous PBR Utah events and has improved vastly over the last couple of years to the point of earning the right to go to Atlanta. A two way HS star, he was the 3A playoff MVP with the bat, but his left arm is what will propel him to the next level as he is garnering D1 interest now. At 6-2 180, showing a lean long lower half and ideal frame to build and projects another 20 lbs of added weight and quality strength. The delivery has smoothed out, as he features a high flexible kick up top and gathers really well, while breaking over the rubber, in getting his arm up and into the throwing position at foot strike. The only flaw that needs to be addressed is he lands on his heel, which creates inconsistent K’s and it’s not a huge heel strike, so it can be tweaked and corrected. Once this is fixed, this should smooth his overall delivery out even more. The HTQ arm stroke is clean and fluid and has no restriction, which portends to even more FB velo down the road. The FB 78-83 is right on point for an upper 80’s, potentially 90 mph FB over the next 2 years. The CB shows med depth and tilt and his hand needs to get on top, to really rip through the seams and create added depth and spin. The CH shows fading action w/late bottom and needs to use more, as it can be a quality pitch for him. Look for even further growth in his repertoire and it will be fun to see where this goes from here?!

A tall lanky, yet projectable physical frame to continue to add weight and strength. A loose arm on the mound with a T83 FB at times with natural arm side run. Able to spin the CB with TQ shape and medium depth. Can pick it at 1B and has some glove actions. Needs to smooth out his footwork and sync his lower to his feet, yet has soft hands and plays out front and from the ground up. The bat has some natural loft and a quick inside the ball approach on his pass at the baseball. Has a high finish to his stroke and can carry the ball high and deep to the pull side. Just now tapping into some power, as he had 2 HR’s on the first weekend of HS play, this past week. Look for this kid's name and track him as he is only gonna get better.

Drew has steadily improved and cleaned up some things in his delivery and is getting over his front side better after release, though he does need to clean up his direction to the plate, as he steps across his body at foot strike. Though this does aid in his deception, and can make for an uncomfortable AB vs LHH, with the angle and plane of attack, A loose arm and showing projectable size and strength, Drew has big feet and hands and is oozing added weight and size as he continues to fill out and mature. The FB has remained in the 79-83 range, though he does get solid arm side life and run to it, and can bore in at times vs LHH's. The CB in the mid 60's is feathered in and controlled for K's and needs to tighten and really let it go. The CH has made steady progress and fades with late deceptive sink below the hitting zone. Look for a good sophomore year out of Drew.

At 6-1 160 and LH'ed, those two things jump out. A lean skinny and highly projectable build, that is 15 yrs old and in 4-5 years, we may have a nice physical package on our hands. This LHP shows a high flexible kick to his delivery with a loose fluid arm and definite room to work with as he gains added strength with maturity. A good pitching coach and solid development and strength program will go a long way in aiding and developing his talent. Plays for a good HS coach and being LH'ed, he always has a chance. Will be interesting to see where this kid is come fall and into the winter. Would like to see more of him down the road.
