Fitzpatrick didn't have his best stuff or command on the day but still showed a lot to like about the lean, long limbed left hander. There are a lot a moving parts to the delivery and some funkiness to it but when its right, the hitters seem to struggle picking the ball up. Fitzpatrick worked from 86-91 mph on the day pitching mostly around 88-89 mph. The fastball creates a tough angle when he gets it to the glove side resulting in weak contact and swings and misses. The breaking ball worked at 75-76 mph on the day and showed slurve/ power curveball type action with some shape to the pitch.
