1.20.18 Thompson has a long-limbed projectable frame at 6-foot-2, 180-pounds. The junior showed smooth actions on the infield with athletic footwork and can throw from different arm slots with a max velocity of 84 mph across the diamond. At the plate, his barrel stays in the zone a long time and he has strong hands with an exit velocity of 90 mph. Starting from a wide stance, he loads back with a big leg kick before landing square. Hands trigger down and back into a front arm bar, then work on an uphill plane, creating leverage and carry from gap to gap. At shortstop, Thompson has quick footwork and rhythm through the ball with soft hands and midline exchange. Throws with a loose arm swing and carry across the diamond with a top velocity of 84 mph. Projectable left side of the infield player.

06.13.17 - 6-foot-2, 170-pound, long limbed frame. The right-hander works from a high-¾ slot with a long arm stroke and some effort in his delivery with an athletic lower half. His fastball was 79-82 mph. His curveball was 66 mph with 11-5 shape and gradual break. Slows his arm down on changeup at 70-72 mph.
Defensively, Thompson has fluid footwork with a clean, quick exchange into a loose, high-¾ arm stroke at 79 mph across the infield. Shows rhythm and timing on the run through play and the ability to throw from different slots. Offensively, the right-handed hitter starts from a wider, crouched stance. Loads back and down into his legs, maintaining level shoulders with a quick toe-tap. Fair balance and approach with a level path and gap approach.
