06.26.18
An athletically lean 6-foot, 165-pound frame. Hicks showed a lot of gusto after running an initial 6.59 60-yard dash, but he knew there was more gas in the tank. What followed was a 6.49 60, the effect of loose strides and a high motor. In the batter’s box, the right-handed hitter starts with his hands high and a somewhat crouched upper-half. He maintains much of his pre-pitch load into his swing, where he taps his lead leg back into his stance before striding forward. He does well to keep his head on plane, and at the showcase, he flashed versatile hands. In the outfield, Hicks threw the baseball low and with intent at 83 mph, showing off an athletic crow-hop.
6.19.18
Lean 6-0, 165-pound athletic frame. Hicks ran an impressive 6.49 laser-timed 60 to start his day. He hits from the right side with an early rhythm and load in his swing. He hits in an athletic stance with a long stride with a toe tap for timing. He has strength at the point of contact, and has quick-twitch actions in his barrel. He is short to the ball, and has line drive power, posting an exit velo of 82 mph off the tee. In the outfield he works aggressively through the ball with his body throughout the throw and has an over-the-top release point, and he topped out at 81 mph to the plate with carry. He made low accurate throws through the cutoff man to the plate.
