6-foot-2, 215-pound frame with strength. The left-hander has a short to long arm stroke with an over-the-top delivery and his fastball sat 74-77 mph with flashes of downward tilt when down in the zone. He spun his 12/6 breaking ball 62-64 mph and showed the ability to bury this pitch on the backside of the plate. He had good feel for his changeup, which flashed depth and arm-side run at 66-70 mph and he threw it with fastball-like arm speed. Simpson has balance and direction in his delivery, and has an old-school rocker step where he brings his hand and glove over his head before coming to his balance point. At the plate, he has a tall setup in the box with a high leg kick that is straight up and then straight down with his front foot, he has a short load back with his hands, and a smooth swing where he handled the bat and hit the ball off the barrel to all fields. Flashed good footwork around the bag, and made throws at 69 mph across the diamond. Ran an 8.59 60-yard dash.

Off the bump, he has an old-school type hands above the head rocker step, with tempo and rhythm in his delivery, and works from a high ¾ arm slot from the left side. His fastball had late cut to it and was 74-77 mph, he thew a 12/6 shaped curveball in the zone at 62-65 mph, and his changeup was 65-68 mph. Simpson ran a 8.59 laser-timed 60.
