2020 DRAFT: Westburg has an uncommon combination of high-end athleticism and physicality. A muscular 6-foot-3, 205-pounder, he looks more like a prototype third baseman at first glance, but he's a quick-twitch athlete who gets good reads and shows surprising range and an easy plus arm at shortstop. He may still wind up at the hot corner as he fills out, but right now his feet, hands and arm all play at short. Offensively, Westburg is a right handed hitter with above-average raw power that he's still learning to tap into during game action. With a wide base and a level setup, he sees the ball well. He's able to drive the ball to all parts of the ballpark, though he does have some swing-and-miss tendencies and he can get beat by fastballs on occasion. His track record of hitting will also appeal to MLB clubs; after posting an .859 OPS and 21 doubles as a sophomore, Westburg was off to a strong start in 2020, hitting .317/.432/.517 with six doubles and two homers in 60 at-bats. He also shows plus speed, getting from home to first in 4.19 seconds from the right side. His combination of speed, long-term power potential, arm strength and defensive ability makes him a sure-fire early round draft pick and potential first-round pick this summer.

8/12/19: After attending the USA CNT Trials, Westburg joined Hyannis on July 5 and played shortstop everyday for the Harbor Hawks. Looking much more relaxed and loose than while with Team USA, he was able to better show the abilities that make him a potential high round pick next June. At 6-foot-3, 205 pounds Westburg is strong and athletic. He has an above average arm with above average accuracy and the ability to complete the play from the six-hole. Long term he is likely to move to the hot corner in pro ball, but could hold his own at shortstop in full season A-ball right now. He’s a plus runner underway and above average down the line (4.26) from the right side. In the batter’s box he has quick hands and can turn on the inside fastball without hooking it. However, he shows vulnerability to off speed with developing pitch recognition skills. Make-up wise, he’s a grinder who is ultra competitive and will do whatever it takes to win. After a strong season in the Cape (.326/.385/.516) look for Westburg to continue to improve his game and his ascent to becoming a Day One pick in 2020. (Seifert)

7/12/19: Strong, athletic build at 6-foot-3, 205 pounds, Westburg struggled seeing the ball at the plate during the Trials and swung/missed often. The right-handed hitter sets up in the box similar to Paul Goldschmidt, but with a slightly higher hand position. Stayed on his backside and tended to cut in/out of the zone, having to be perfect with his timing to make hard contact. He does have both strength and bat speed and it’s just a matter of time until he regains the form that produced a .294/.402/.457 slash with 21 doubles as a sophomore this past spring. As the Bulldogs everyday shortstop, Westburg played mostly third base at the Trials where he showed an average arm with above average accuracy. Ran a 4.26 from home to first on a groundout to third. He is a potential top three round talent in 2020. (Seifert)
