6-foot-2, 205-pound frame with some raw strength. The right-hander has a deceptive delivery, he pushes off with his legs early and has some jump down the mound, but he stays back with a long toe drag, and is able to work in sync with his upper and lower halves working together. His fastball was 81-84 mph, he threw a rolling curveball at 66-68 mph, and had good feel for a changeup with depth at 68-71. His changeup looks to be a very effective pitch, he throws it with fastball arm speed, and it looks to be a tough pitch for hitters to pick up out of his hand. He has a high ¾ release point with some effort and smooth rhythm in his delivery. Byers hit some baseballs hard off the barrel to center field in batting practice, and pounded a 93 mph exit velo off the tee. At the plate, he starts in a crouched stance, and he drops his center of gravity even more in his load, he stays low through the swing, works on a low level swing plane, and takes an aggressive swing. He showed range coming off the bag at first base, and made accurate throws from a low arm slot in the infield; topped out at 85 mph. Ran a 7.17 laser-timed 60 to show some athleticism to go along with his strength.
