2022 MLB Draft: Another grad student who excelled at the CWS is the former Stanford starter turned Aggie reliever. The lefty Palisch appeared in two CWS games out of the pen, filling the zone with 91-93 mph fastballs and a ton of breaking balls for repeated swing/miss. He struck out 13 in 8.1 innings. For the season Palisch appeared in 29 games, all out of the pen. He registered a 6-3 record with five saves, a 2.39 ERA and 73 strikeouts in 60.1 innings. It’s a borderline starter arsenal that plays up in the pen. Like Michael above, Palisch likely earned himself a selection later in Day Two as a bonus pool saver. 

Palisch (0.77 ERA/0.83 WHIP/.188 BAA) was one of the more entertaining lefties to watch on the Cape this summer, striking out 38 while walking just five in his six starts (including two seven-inning shutouts) and 36 innings. His fastball grades out as average, sitting in the 88-91 mph velo band with good life, while his changeup and slider both sit in the low-80s. He turns over his off-speed well, producing solid arm-side fade, and his slider comes with short, sharp action that mirrors the fastball and changeup well. The high-waisted southpaw worked aggressively in the zone, often pitching off his slider early in the count to steal strikes and draw soft contact. Palisch looks the part of an early Day Two talent at present and projects as a potential back-end arm with average-or-better offerings and enough feel to work the entirety of his repertoire through any counts, both in and out of the zone.
