8-8-2018: Strong framed at 6’1, 200 pounds. Gayle has a simple delivery with a quick, compact arm action. Good direction on his stride but falls off considerably to the first base side. High arm slot creates angle on FB at 93-95 mph, which may have been down in velo from where he was in the spring. Hard CB at 79-82 is an above average secondary offering. Comes out of hand with tight spin and minimal hump. Carries depth into the zone with sharp break. Effectively wild at times. Not a comfortable match-up for hitters. Should put up a lot of zeros with a high ‘K’ rate at Rice this spring. (D Jurik)
