6/17/19

Long 6-foot-2, 170-pound frame, really nice body to project upon on the mound, Mershon works with an over the head windup, gets good direction with the hips down the hill, and has a high ¾ slot that creates leverage down hill. Fastball clocked at 84-85 mph with some late running action. Showed a 70-73 curveball and two changeup variations - a straight change at 77-78 and a 73-76 mph forkball.

10.20.18
Mershon has good feel for four pitches with a quick arm swing. Listed at 6-foot-2, 165-pounds, he still has plenty of room to fill out his young, projectable frame. Pumped strikes for the duration of his outing. More of an old school delivery with a high leg lift as he slightly coils at the top, then drives down the mound with a long stride. Fastball was 81-83 mph with some angle. Curveball has tighter rotation with late, short, 1/7 shape at 69-70 mph. Mixed in a changeup at 73-74, but his forkball is the equalizer.  He can throw in any count, with command and tumbling depth as it knuckles toward the plate, then drops off the table late at 69-70 mph.
