2020 DRAFT: At 6-foot-6, 210-pound frame, Brandon Young is imposing on hitters as he looks down from the mound. The right-hander uses a simple, all-stretch delivery. Simple mechanics making is possible to repeat with his long frame. Shorter, compact arm action with a clean and continuous arm circle working into a high- slot. Young has a low-to-mid 90's fastball with some arm-side action on the 2 seam. Fours-seam fastball plays better with high usage at the top of the zone - true swing and miss fastball. He's always had feel for an average changeup with solid command but he made a big step in evaluators' eyes as he added a slider this spring. The slider is average at this point but has good spin and solid depth working down and away to right-handed hitters. This pitch has the most room for growth as he recently added it to the arsenal. High-intensity competitor, college right-hander with two present average pitches and a chance for 3 in the future. College starter that can fit nicely into the pen where the stuff should tick up in short stints.
