11.04.18
Olson has a smooth delivery with a clean arm swing from a high-¾ slot with all three pitches coming out of the same tunnel. The left-handers fastball sat 83-85 flashing sink to right-handed hitters. Does a nice job of staying on top of his curveball, creating good rotation and 1/7 shape at 70-73 mph. Good feel for the changeup at 77 mph. Pitching is not all that he is good at, the two-way player and right-handed hitter posted an exit velocity of 93 mph and has pull side power with a short, simple path and great extension through contact. For good measure, Olson also ran a 7.05 60-yard dash, and plays through the ball with athleticism in the outfield.

07.17.18
Strong 5-foot-10, 175-pound frame with a thick lower-half. The right-handed hitter has an easy setup at the plate, as his hands have some wiggle. A short stride and an up-and-back load are followed by a compact, smooth swing with some pop. Olson has loose wrists, a whippy bat that creates good carry (91 mph exit velocity) without tremendous effort, good feel for the barrel, keeps his head centered and is strong, balanced at the point of contact. In the outfield, he plays low through the baseball, utilizes a solid crow-hop and high ¾ arm swing and comes up firing at a max velocity of 85 mph. On the mound, the left-handed pitcher gathers himself with a repeatable, tall-and-fall delivery as he clears his front side well. Showed good command to both sides of the plate with a 81-82 mph fastball. Flashed a 72-74 mph with 11/5 shape, even creating a strikeout. Also mixed in a 74 mph changeup.

06.05.18
5-foot-10, 175 pound, strong, sturdy frame. Olson showed well both as an outfielder and on the mound.  The left-hander has three-pitch mix of a fastball (79-82), changeup (72, 74) and a curveball (68, 69). Creates solid arm speed with a long, clean arm stroke from a high-¾ slot, and a smooth tempo in a drop and drive delivery down the mound. Does a great job of getting out over his front side, working against a firm front leg with an athletic finish. His fastball ranged from 79-82 mph, but Olson threw the best changeups of the day, each with good hand speed and depth. The pitch was tough to pick up as it was similar to his fastball, and he had plus command as each one started about mid-thigh high and the bottom fell out of them to end up at/slightly below the bottom of the zone. His curveball has 11/5 shape at 68-69 with loose spin. Look for Olsen to make a jump in the future as he can already throw 86 from the outfield, and his arm works well with a synced up delivery.

Olson has a strong, sturdy frame at 5-foot-10, 175-pounds, and ran a 7.16 60-yard dash to start the day before launching balls to the pull side during BP. The right-handed hitter starts with a slight bend in his knees, utilizes a small leg kick before he whips the barrel through the zone with seemingly low effort, and a loose-finish. Ball jumps off his bat (91 mph exit velocity), has power to the pull side, ran a ball out of the yard to left field. Plays through the ball with athletic rhythm that is synced up with his crow hop, allowing his arm to work well from back to front with a long arm stroke. Threw head-high bullets to the plate with high end accuracy and a top velocity of 86 mph.
