04.28.17 - Houston recruit. Listed at 5-foot-9, 160-pounds, athletic, fast-twitch frame. Plays with high energy at all times. Displayed a strong arm at shortstop. Made a sliding play to his right, gathered himself and made a strong, accurate throw to first base. During pregame in and out, he showed extremely quick hands and feet and a strong accurate arm. The left-handed hitter displayed good plate discipline, and ran a 4.1-second time to first base. Was 0-2 on Friday night vs. Whitehouse ISD.
10.01.16
The left-handed hitter shows a real run tool on offense posting a 3.94 home-to-first time on a drag bunt. Leadoff type hitter that can handle the bat but also has the strength in his hands to drive the ball hitting a deep-line drive to centerfield.
10.16.16
Listed at 5-foot-9, 160-pounds. The left-handed hitter can really handle the bat and posted impressive home-to-first times (4.17, 4.19). In a separate game he registered home-to-first times of 3.71 (bunt) and 4.19 on a hard hit ground ball to shortstop. Burckel gets to full speed at an elite level, making every ball he puts on the ground a challenge for the defense. Once on base, it is a matter of time before he steals second and/or third base.
