6-foot-3, 205-pound, RHH shows big bat speed w/ pull power. Tall, well-proportioned physical frame w/ present strength throughout, some physical projection remaining. Offensively, hits w/ a straight on, slightly crouched stance w/ quiet hands into short shift of weight, stride and proper load. Generates above average bat speed through the zone. Appeared rusty in game, struggled w/ timing a little bit, which is rare for the couple of times we saw him this spring. Got a little pull heavy. At his best, shows ability to work all fields w/ power to all fields. Ball jumps off the barrel w/ back-spin. Has a presence in the box. Below average runner. Defensively, worked out at 1B and behind the plate. On the dirt, shows solid glove w/ solid arm strength for the position. As a catcher, presents a big body to throw to w/ big target located knee high w/ very short glove rest. Strong forearms w/ feel for sticking the baseball. One knee receiver at times. Shows mobility behind the plate, can box the baseball. As a thrower, shows solid hands w/ solid footwork, arm strength w/ carry to target and on the bag accuracy.
6-foot-2, 195-pound, RHH showed much improved, consistent pop times. Tall, well-proportioned frame w/ some present strength, some projection. Prototypical catcher build. Offensively, hits from a slightly open, slightly crouched stance w/ back shoulder hand location. Shift of weight, short hip rotation, stride to closed and proper load. Cut himself off on this day offensively. Showed similarly to what we have seen in the past offensively, showing above average power w/ the ball jumping off the bat. Projects to hit for average and power. Defensively, moving much better behind the plate than the last time we saw him in October. Presents a big body w/ a good, low target. Shows an idea for pitch framing w/ strong wrists. Still learning to get under the low pitches. As a thrower, release has improved w/ arm strength w/ carry to target. Given the strides he has made defensively, is a must see entering the spring.
6-foot-2, 195-pound, RHH shows intriguing size w/ RH power. Medium, well-proportioned frame w/ some present strength, physical projection. Hits from a slightly open, slightly crouched stance w/ back shoulder hand location. Slight bat waggle. Stride w/ proper load, bat wrap. Generates bat speed through the zone. All fields approach w/ developing power. Projects to hit for average and power. Simple, repeatable swing, just waiting on physical maturity to unlock full offensive potential. Heavy footed runner. Defensively, presents a big body for pitchers to throw to. Presents quality target for pitchers w/ feel for framing. Moves well behind plate. As a thrower, shows average arm strength w/ carry to target. Slow feet currently behind plate, but agility work should increase his release time and get it closer to what arm strength suggests it should be. An interesting catcher who is an off-season of development away from presenting a very interesting tool package.
6-foot-2, 195-pound, RHH shows intriguing size, bat speed. Physical frame w/ projection remaining. Righty hits from a straight on, very slightly crouched stance w/ back shoulder hand location. Shift of weight, stride and short hand load. Pull oriented approach w/ pull power. Patient approach, has an idea of what he is looking for in the box. Projects to hit for power as the body matures. Defensively, shows carry to target w/ a cocking action in his release. Defensively, provides a big target for his pitchers to pitch to w/ a quiet glove. Can set a lower target. Feel for framing. Intriguing power first catcher.
7/5/17 - 60 Time: 8.27, Pop Time: 1.95-2.07, Position Velocity: C-81, Exit Velocity: 83
6-2, 185-pound, RHH hits from a balanced and even stance, stays loose, has a strong and athletic frame, short stride and a smooth move with his hands gets him loaded, lower half provides some torque but does cut off a little bit at the end, swing plane is flat to uphill through the zone with some lift, drives balls with gap pop that could continue developing. Defensively, showed good hands and solid footwork behind the plate, arm is loose and gives him a weapon, plus arm strength helped produce some sub-2 pop times.
