Power / Speed Score
A simple calculation that divides the athlete’s Exit Velocity Max by the athlete’s 60 Yard Dash time for the given event year. For example, 98 MPH / 7.00s = 14.00.
6-foot-2, 210-pound southpaw showed some two-way upside at Tri Star Titans Scout Day. Proportional frame with present strength and slight projection. Balanced stance with some rhythm and small leg kick. Generates good bat speed leading to some pull side power, driving the ball into the LCF gap (Max Distance: 370 ft per Trackman). Solid timing with consistent hard contact (Max Exit Velo: 98.9 mph; Avg: 88.3 mph per Trackman). Slots as corner outfielder as 7.6 runner with good arm strength and carry (89 mph OF Velo). On the bump, simple, repeatable motion with strong balance point and clean arm action working to 3/4 slot. Still learning to use his lower half to drive down the mound, but creates nice leverage and heel-first squared landing. Sinking FB sat 80-83 (T84 this fall) with low spin rates (Max: 1794 rpm per Trackman) but much more in the tank. Showed some feel for a CH at 74-78 with some fade and deception to neutralize RHH. Also mixed slurvy-CB at 69-73 with 1/7-2/8 action and some bite as solid third offering.

Mid-Atlantic Summer Championships
Whitson is 6-0 with a strong athletic frame that has some projection left to it. Throws from a three-quarters arm slot from a longer, free quick arm action with normal effort to his delivery. Shoulders are level and on line, lands closed with an athletic finish and some recoil. Fastball was 77-80, touching 81. Showed a slider with good armspeed and late 2/8 break at 71-72.
