Patrick Freeman (Oakland, 2026) Freeman gave me his first look at him since our Prep Baseball TN Top-Prospects Invite last May and has put on more strength and size in the profile it seemed. The fastball worked early getting ahead of hitters and tunneling his off-speed off of that offering. He ran into trouble from the onset giving up a single in the first before pitching around hitters gathering 2 K’s to end that frame. Siegel did all their damage in the 2nd and 3rd off of Freeman where he led off the frame with a leadoff walk before getting 2 K’s. However, he would give up a double on a hit that really should have been caught in right field getting Siegel on the board first. In the 3rd, a senior signee found a barrel for a single and subsequently gave up another barred ball to right field. However, he settled in from there and cruised through the lineup finishing with 9 K’s, while giving up 4 hits through 5 innings. The ability is clearly there with Freeman and comes in as a prospect on the rise. Oakland is giving him a boost, throwing him out there early as a sophomore to get him experience and battle-tested, which will ultimately aid him in the long-run. At 6 foot 1 and 165 pounds, Freeman is far from done growing and already carries some length on the mound in the stride. The fastball sat 84-86 with some late arm-side run, while also flashing command with a slider at 75-76 and a changeup at 75-76. The stat line shows 4 runs, but he was much better than that suggest and showed why colleges will be high on him for years to come.
